Challenge of Mangus

Another Grimrock mod finished. This one is very short. Probably even shorter than the Tower of Bones. I mean, clear time for playing was under half an hour. I'm sure of that. But that's because I ditched the stupid shop. It rearanget my items. And that was driving me crazy!

Still, it has some very interesting puzzles. Like, the tomb with the four altars. Or the room with the trapdoors. That was interesting.
However, as it was really short, I don't have much to write. Only, maybe the fact there was no boss fight. Basically, once you get through the fourth? Or was it third? Level, there is this door and stairs up. And then, there is door and a lever. And once you pull that lever, it's the end of the game. Magnus will give you your gold and you go on your merry way.
So, if I forget about the shortness of the mod, I did enjoy it. Though, I think there is too many torches. Why? Well, because if there are too many torches, the game laggs for me. I don't like too many torches. A single torch every now and then is okay, but that's because I can use the light spell. It's my favourite spell. And then the fireball, lightning bolt and lightning burst.
So, go play it. It has no goromorgs, no spiders, but there are ogres. They are quite manageable though. Seeing as there is a grate that can separate them from you.
Also the dexterity puzzles with the skeleton archers and trapdoors are interesting.
All in all, I enjoyed this mod.
So, now the quiestion is, which mod should I play next? I'm running out of good mods. And that is because all the good stuff is no steam and I don't have my Grimrock compatibile with steam. At least, I think. I should probably look into that. But that can wait. Seeing as I don't even have steam.
Still though, Steam has soo many more mods than nexus...

See ya.

Sasha L. Miller - Playing with Shadows

Okay, this story was so cool! A monastery in the middle of nowhere! A servant that is to be sacrificed to demons because there just doesn't seem to be any other way. And then, an honest priest that wants to save that servant and deal with the demons.
Corrin, the servant, was supposed to be in the monastery eight more months. But, fate would not have that. So, when the head priest starts taking groups of servants to do this shady job of cleaning one and the same table again and again, Corrin is confronted by Rafferty. One of the priests. And he tells the servant all about the demons in the shadows and the sacrifice to apease them. The bloody sacrifice that will most like be Corrin himself. Unless, they do this ritual that would take care of the demons.
Corrin agrees to help. However, when he is one of the ones to clean the dreaded table, things start moving fast. So the next thing that happens is Corrin running to Rafferty and them barricading themselves in Rafferty's room to do the ritual.
All's well ends well. And the two of them start snogging and end up leaving to check on the other priests as the demons are exterminated.
A nice little story that captivates. It took a bit of time for me to finish it, but it was worth it. And it was from Amazon, and for free! Isn't that nice?
So, it might not have that much of slash in it, but the atmosfere is great and anyway, just go and read it! I recommend it! Will definitely be looking into the author. Hopefully, there is more from them and hopefully, it is not too pricey.

Terry Milien - Firesong

A story, pardon, book. From Amazon. About a young phoenix that crashes into the house of someone whose parrents were lost in a fire. The man takes care of the phoenix and makes sure he's okay.
With time, they grow close and the phoenix protects the human from the villagers that don't like him.
And so when the phoenixes familly comes finally, they are told he will stay with the mortal. Because, he fell in love. And who are they to stop him, right?
Heh, this sounds lame. But I promise the book itself is much better. Read it practically in one go. And, it didn't cost me anything. It was one of those that were free. So, if you're into slash, go get it. It's good. :)
So, I guess that will be all for this post from me. And I will see to it that I write the next book I finished too.

See ya.

Megan Derr - The High King's Golden Tongue

A few days back, I finished a good book. It's called The High King's Golden Tongue. It's slash, but that's exactly the kind of book I like. The book is set in fantasy kingdom where those that can speak many languages are called Silver Tongues.
The main hero is Allen and he is to be the king's consort. Only, the king turns him away without giving him a second thought. That is because Allen is a schollar, not a fighter, and that is the type of poeple the king keeps close.
Allen then goes and wanders through the city below the castle. There, he meets one of the kings hired secret agents. And they are in need of a transaltor for a mission. So, Allen, knowing twelve different languages, joins them, thinking that he needs to prove his worth.
When the group is captured, and the king realises Allen was there, he goes on a rescue mission. A mission that is a big success. Then, the king finally learns to appreciate Allens talents with languages.
As short as it sounds, it is a good read and I do recommend it to all the slash likers out there.
I really like the style it's written in and will be looking into more from this author. Got the book from Amazon. On my kindle. Good thing I have it, because Amazon is like the only place where you can get books that are slash. And I mean books, not just fanfiction and other stories.
Oh well, gotta go and read something more. Or, write about another book I finished reading.

See ya.

The Tower of Bones

Hah! Finished another LoG mod. This one called The Tower of Bones. Nice little mod made in 11x11 space to resemble tower. I think there are nine levels plus two optional ones. One thing I would like to point out is that if you decide to play it, I suggest not a new party. There are goromorgs and you won't be able to reach high enough level to beat them. I mean, two of them in a small room? Well... Still, the mod is nicely done. Oh, another thing, torches are important. Only in one or two places, but are. Don't leave them behind.
I mean, yes, there was this note about potions turning into torches, or something, but anyway, I didn't test this theory, so there. It's safer to bring the torches from the first two levels anyway. In case this method doesn't work.

So, this mod. The first floor is practically devoid of anything major. I think there are two skeleton archers, but that's it. Then you have to find rune and then a key. Opening the door, that leads to the star leading up. Yes, you start at the bottom. Then on the next floor there is a room with a bunch of preasure plates. Hehe. And some scavengers. Once you find the note, the puzzle will be easy. At least, I think it is easy.
However, I admit to not finding all of the secrets. Couldn't be bothered. I just wanted to know what was after the torch opened door. Well, now I know. There was a bunch of goromorgs. Lucky me to play it with my 30 level party.
Never mind that.
Well, still, the mod is nice. And I will probably play it again in time. And when that comes, I will try to figure out what to do with the keys from the maze. Supposedly it is dexterity maze, but I just let the fireballs hit me. It doesn't do much damage anyway... Maybe next time I'll throw in a fire shield for good meassure.
Although, the treasures are quite easy to find. I mean, come on... the treasurry? Way too easy!
And I think the mod could be longer. I finished within half an hour. Or so. Very easy. Maybe next time I won't play on easy. xD I mean, I am level 30... Even though I achieved that through the cheat item in The Lost continent mod.
Go play it. It's worth it. Even if it is short. Get a party that has been through something already and go find the treasure.
And for those of you who don't know where to get it, I got it from nexusmods. But it's also on stream.

See ya.

The Epic Party

Okay, I decided to write about my Epic Party. Obviously, there are four members. The first is this delicate looking warrior. I named him Fior. But in my head, I call him Fio for short. Then, there is Kadaj. I stole the name from Final Fantasy, but the portrait is different. He's the secondary warrior and specializes in axes. Though his sword skill is also quite high. Next, third in my party is Sabriel. He's the rogue and has a specialization in daggers. Though, he is also quite skilled in shooting from a bow (crossbow) and with throwing weapons. Still, I prefer for him to use his dagger.
And the last one, that would be Eren, my wizard. Or, spellcaster more likely.
Okay, let's take them apart one by one more in depth.
Fior
He's the youngest in this party. Barely eighteen. Fior, or Fio for short is a prodigy with the sword and his skill is beyond anyone. He is in love with Eren. Fior used to be a son of a wealthy count. But at one point, he just ran off with Eren. Fio was voted the leader of this little group even though he mor often than not asks Eren for advice.
There is elven ancestry in Fior's blood.
Kadaj
Only two years older than Fio. Used to be a knight at the kings court. One day he was framed for the murder of the general and he fled to the neighbouring kingdom where he met Fio and Eren. His weapon of choice is the Axe, but can use swords and blunt weapons as well. Is useless when it comes to riddles, but has keen sense of perception and can smell danger. His instincts saved the group more than one time.
Sabriel
Used to be a thief. Age 36 and the second oldest. Lived in the western parts of the kingdom and made quite a name for himself. Only for the king to send an army and decimate the whole thievs guild. Sabriel was the only one to survive. He swore vengenance on the king and went to seek power. This was changed when he was caught by the kings men. Only for them to be caught in a landslide as they were transporting him. He would have died if not for Fiors group. At that moment Sabriel swore to protect the young ex-noble at the cost of his life.
Eren
Eren used to be the king's personal wizard. And if it weren't for the ball, he would still be. But during the ball, he spied the most beautifull creature to walk the earth. Then and there he fell for Fior. And when Fior fell for him, it was only matter of time till they ran off together.
Eren is 39 years old and has demonic ancestry which amplifies his magical skills. So far, there is no known wizard to be better than him.

Unlike many before them, they went to Grimrock to satisfy their curiosity. They let themselves be caught and then they went through the mountain and searched for secrets while trying to understand the purpose of the place.

Now, I'm thinking of making them into a story. I mean, they have background, they have life. At first, this was only ment as a background for four characters from my game. Now, it seems they life on their own, telling me to write about them... I might. :)
I like them. And while I didn't make the portraits, I made the characters and I own them. I own them the way they are now. So don't take them from me! Or I might get angry. And you don't want that to happen.

See ya.

Take that! You stupid Cube!

Tee Hee! Finally won against the cube! Yep, only needed level 30 characters. Oh, and it would have been nice for the guide I was using to be accurate... Well... I would probably want too much... It seems.
Because, for you to be able to fight the Undying one, you have to first make him immortal using the four parts found in the Cemetery level. Okay. Did that. Then, you have to run for it and get the weapon of power. Got that also. Next thing you need to do is to stun the fucker with the weapon and take out the parts you put in. Did also.
Only, in the gude it was that after you do this, he will be mortal or watever... Can a piile of metal even be mortal? Nevermind. Basically, after you take the parts out, he should be beatable. Only, he wasnt... So, I was freaking out, thinking there was a glitch, seeing as I was playing it as a mod...
And then, I decided to listen to the blabber that was being written on my screen. Something about a crystal of life. So, I went to it, found tainted ore, got it, had to stun him again, then I went and placed the tainted ore in and then I stunned him again. Only for him to be finally set aflame and beatable. So, the point is, this should have been in the guide and wasn't.
Other than that, it was nice.
Just... I so don't like the prison wall set. It's so... I don't know... Freaky?
Still, the game is nice and in time, I might play it again. With the same party. Hopefully, it will be much higher level at that point. And that means I will be able to win so much more easilly. xD
So, a bit more about the game as a whole. Like I said, I was playing it as a mod. Good for me, ne?

Also, while I don't consider myself an expert on it, I certainly do consider myself somewhat knowledgeable. So, if you're a Grimrock player and need help, feel free to ask.

I was watching some let's play's and I have to say... It is so creepy to watch it... Much much worse than playing it. I got no problem playing it, but I get scared watching it... Is that weird or what? I would say it is.
Okay, nevermind.
I'm just so glad I finally managed to play through the whole game. Now, it's mod time. I will play through every single mod from nexusmods that is for grimrock. Already finished two. Might do one of them again with my epic party.
Heh, I might actually write about my Epic Party. xD
Okay, that's enough for now.

See ya.

Legend of Grimrock - The Merchant's Basement

Another great mod for Grimrock. This one is also very story driven. Although... Who would have thought that going for some wine would end up in defeating morronic trapped idiots that want to rule the world and saving witches from the villans hoards, ne?
BTW: Does anyone know wether that minotaur can be added to your party? is it just that you need to save him quickly? Or is it just dialogue and no minotaur at all?
Whatever. I was kinda dreading the boss fight, but in the end, I just went in it with all I had. Which ment freezing the fucker and then going at it with dismanteler (kudos to the creator for adding that sword!) and fireball spells. As the witch was high on firepower. Literally.

I had to backtrack several times and I thought I was a gonner when the two wardens appeared in that room with that single preasure plate. Only, thank god there was that button that lets you run away.
Oh, and I got a question. Is there a mortar and pestle in this mod or not? I addmit there were  practically no plants, but still, just curious.
On the other hand, the empty bottles came quite handy for holding down preasure plates. Hehe.
So, all in all, a good mod. Only thing I don't like is that you cannot make your own characters. Like... the first one, I mean. I was trying to import Toorum, but no luck there... Still, even without him, it was a good play. Didn't think I would finish this quickly though. Only started it today. A few hours ago...
Guess I should go back to playing with my two main parties. The Epic one that has imported portraits. And my starting one that has been through the first ten levels of the original Grimrock. (Was too much of a chicken to finish it)

By the way, is it just me, or are the prison walls really scarry? My main reason for not finishing the main game. Oh, and the fact that there were way too many goromorgs. I just don't like those suckers!
So, if you want some action and hard puzzles, go play this mod. Supposedly there are two endings. I guess one is when Malbolna or what's his name, asks you to get a dragon to free him. Only, you don't have to. You can just go and get outa there. I'm not sure if that will result in fighting with the morron, or not, as I haven't tried and went for the dragon instead, but you can try. Tell me what that does, kay?

See ya.

Legend of Grimrock - The Missing Heir

HI,
It is already several days back, but I finished one of the mods for Legend of Grimrock I downloaded. This one was called The Missing Heir. I went with my team I played with before. And thank god I did. While I think it would be playable with a new team as well, it certanily made some things easier this way.
Like... The slug/naga/cyclops thingies. They were a pain in the ass. Mainly when I was battling against Master. The fucker was summoning a whole bunch of them and it just wouldn't do. In the end I just went against only Master. No dodging and boxed by wall from all other sides. And that was the best way.
I admit I did need some help with some of the puzzles. But other than that, I have to say the mod is great and has unique story that calls for continuation.

The autor confirmed that they will make more mods. When? I don't know, but from the message was clear they are planning it.
As for the mod, other than my ranting abotu Masters slugs... Story driven, though sometimes, when I was reading the dialogue, I did it while resting, as it was faster that way. I think it was appearing too slow. Other than that... I think there was no Dismanteler in the mod. That would be the only thing I didn't like. Because, I just love that sword.
The most confusing part was probably the third/fourth floor. Had to ask for directions several times. And then in one of the Master's chalenges, I thought I was trapped. Only, all I had to do was wait a little... So it went well.
If you're a fan of Grimrock, go play this mod. You can get it from either steam or nexus. Though if you're new to playing mods, I suggest you use already existing party to make it a bit easier for you. Though, it doesn't make it easier by much. I had party level 13 and still, the slugs were hard.

See ya.

Legeond of Grimrock - Remake

Hi,
I found a great Grimrock mod. It is actually the remake of the original game as a mod. And while ti might sound dull to you, it sounds great to me! Because, you cannot import characters into the original game. There, you always have to start from scratch. And I don't like that. I like to play with my party and I like to continue play with it.

And this mod, while it is essentially the same as the original game, there is one big difference. And that is that it is a MOD! And it lets you import characters.
So I can play the original Grimrock with my already leveled up party! As well as my EPIC PARTY! Isn't that great?!
And it is all thanks to someone nicknamed Komag.
Okay, that's all. If you're interested in this mod, I got it from nexusmods.

See ya.

My own dungeon

Hia!
This time, it's, surprisingly, another post about Legend of Grimrock. And what about? First, I was able to finally update the game to the 1.3.6 or something version. So! I now can play and create custom dungeons. Yay!

And, I already downloaded some. And, the next thing is, I'm working on one of my own. It's not much when it comes to puzzle, but hey, I like the more straightforward ones. Also, the levels are fairly small, but still... I plan on having many of them. It would be interesting to create neverending dungeon. xD Oh well... We'll see.

See ya.

Toorum

Hi,
Another post about Legend of Grimrock.
See, I finally figured how to play as Toorum. Whose name I thought was Toonam. For some reason. Guess the letters were so close together it made that name instead. I'm still not sure which one I like better. Guess Toorum though. Since that is the true name.
Okay, moving on. For those of you that don't know how to make Toorum work, it's easy. Start a new game, I suggest easy, at least for the first time playing with him, then, without doing anything else, name the first character Toorum and press Enter. And, voila, the game starts and your only character is Toorum. He has double the speed. However, if you die, it's the end, because there is noone else there to bring you to the crystal of life, so be carefull. The first floor is a breeze, the second is not so bad either. Third is fine thanks to a lot of closing door. Fourth... At this point, it will be a breeze too.

And as for the next floors, I can't tell, I'm not there yet. I'm kinda dreading the troll on the sixth floor, but... Let's say I will have to lure him to the gate that can be closed. It's the only way. Otherwise, I fear it will kill me. Still... I'm not there yet.
What I am really looking forward though, is the part when I get teh dismanteler. Hell yeah! The best sword in the game! And the best looking one!
Yes, I know there are some people that say the best sword is the sword of Nex, but... It's the Dismanteler! It has lightning! Come on! What more can you want?! 'Cept the weapon of power to be held in the other hand... Wonder if I'll be able to take the Undying one on...
Has anyone ever completed the game with Toorum only? Tell me! What was your boss battel tactic?
Tell me! I want to know. :)

See ya.
