We also get a lot more background for some of the other characters. Including but not limited to Hecate Hardbroom, Enid Nightshade, Ethel Hallow, and Miss Drill.
I will admit it took a little while when I watched the remake for the first time to adjust to the new first (and in Maud's case last) names, but when I re-watched it for the second time, I decided that I like the new names better. Well, maybe except for Miss Drill. I don't know, Dimity just doesn't feel 100% right to me. On the other hand, she no longer seems like an 'Imogen' either, so... I guess I'll just stick to calling her Miss Drill and forgo the first name completely.
And I'll definitely have to re-watch at least the two episodes featuring Pippa Pentangle. Heh, I have most of the episodes downloaded, but I'm gonna have to figure out which is which, as I didn't really pay much attention to what I saved them as.
As for the 'New Worst Witch', it features Mildred's cousin Henrietta 'Hettie' Hubble. She's fun, but honestly, it has nothing on the new remake. Though it did make me think. About what? Well, in the first season of the New Worst Witch, there is this teacher - Miss Nightingale. And I have a feeling that the producers of the remake might have seen it. Because when I started re-watching the New Worst Witch, I started to compare Nightingale with Pippa Pentangle. I mean, Pippa is still better, but Nightingale wasn't bad. Decidedly better than what they replaced her with in season 2. Oh, and nothing beats the original Miss Bat. The one that keeps closing herself in the wardrobe. That's always funny.
In conclusion? All the series have something great in them. All are worth watching at least once. But! If I had to pick only one to watch and couldn't see any of the others again, I'd pick the new remake. Seriously, great job on it. And the actors did an awesome job as well. I was a little sad about the actress change for the last season for Mildred, but got used to it. Even though I still picture her as Bella Ramsay when reading fanfics. But you can't make me stop doing that. Not allowed.
And with that, I'll see you in the next post.
Bye.
