Blurbs

I just thought to mention that I have a blog where I post little blurbs. Basically, when I have something to say but it's not enough for a full post. Just something that popped into my mind and needs to be written down. So, if you want to check it out, I sometimes post even multiple posts a day. Not always, but hey, sometimes, I have things to say that don't need a full post and this is a way for me to get these out. 

Some of those posts might be longer than others, which sometimes happens when I feel like ranting. Or when I realize I feel like ranting in the middle of writing that thing. Whatever I'm writing. So, if you want to know what I rant about, check it out. 

Technically, this doesn't qualify as a full post either, but I needed to mention that other blog so that you know about it. I'm not sure if it has a link in the menu, but if it doesn't, I'm gonna add it there. The site is called Anything & Everything. Please don't get confused by the clusterfuck known as tags. The way I use tags there is that I tag literally anything and everything. If it has a relation to the post, regardless of how flimsy, I'll add it as a tag. I'm thinking also of cross-linking. In case I start mentioning other posts or something. It's something I adapted my Czech blog for. When I remember that I even have a Czech blog. Though I did post several things there rather recently. 

Anyway! You have the link and I just checked and it's even added to the side menu. So enjoy and maybe I'll see you there.

Office 2019

I bought Microsoft Office 2019 last night. I've wanted those for a while now and finally, finally, I decided to just go and buy them. Online of course. No need for a physical copy when a digital one is enough. I installed it right away and while I still have my old Microsoft Office installed, I'm definitely not gonna use them anymore. The 2019 version is better. 

I know there's all this hype about the 365 version but I'm not interested in that. The yearly subscription fee is not something I'm willing to pay. Hell, if they sold MS Word 2019 as a separate package, I'd just buy that. It's the only thing I use with any regularity. The rest I use so rarely that I would be fine using some free (if slightly inferior) program. No problem there. But yeah. Word. I use that a lot to write stories. Lately, it's mostly fanfiction, but I have some original stuff I'm working on too. And then there's that one epic tale I have (not yet finished) that is in Czech and I'm trying to force myself to translate it into English. As I don't really feel like continuing it in Czech. I might, but as of yet, it's a shelved project. Nothing I'm gonna work on now. Even though the idea is somewhat epic. 

Back to the 2019 Office though. I love it. And just now, I figured out how to change the design. The default is too bright. So now it's dark gray. I mean, it wasn't really hard. All it needed is me actually doing it. So yes, it has everything I need and I'm happy with it. I'm really glad I decided to buy it. And maybe the 365 is better, who knows. I don't really care to find out. And yes, it has more programs. And whatnot. But I'm not using those. Like I said before. If there was an option to just get Microsoft Word without anything else, I would prefer that. But alas, we can't have everything we want. 

On a completely unrelated note. My mother bought a lottery ticket yesterday. We won. Only an insignificant amount but at the same time, it's a nice feeling knowing that the money wasn't wasted. Just wanted to throw this out there.

Really?

Almost every day, at least one person reads this post. Dungeon of Slyn... Such an old post... And yet, almost every day... I'm honestly quite baffled by this. I don't understand how something so unknown can have so many views... Maybe because there's not enough info about it on the internet and therefore my post is one of the few sources players have. 

So, I'm happy people keep reading it, but at the same time, I would have been happier if my other posts were read too. Not just this one about an obscure game that most people don't even know exist.

Oh well. It'll get better now that I'm posting with more regular intervals. At least that's what I'm telling myself. We'll see. Hopefully. 

Though I would kill for a single comment from a reader. So, how about it? Just a tiny little something? Don't make me beg, kay?

Also, from now on, I'm gonna line-break longer posts. I'm not changing old posts, but just so you know. 

Needed feature

So! Blogger just told me that this new version of the interface will soon be permanent. I'm still iffy about it. It still seems to lack the feature I want! The 'text next to pic' thing. I want that so badly! It's the one singular reason I'm still using the old blogger. Well, was using the old blogger. Starting with this post, I'm officially using the new one. So far, I'm not too happy with it. We'll see how they improve it. Hopefully, they will. I don't want to migrate my blog again. That would not be optimal. Apart from the new interface missing my favorite feature, I like blogger. And even if it means learning the bloody HTML, I will stay here. 

Okay, so I went back to the old blogger and got an image to the spot I wanted it. Then I deleted all text from the post, went into HTML, copied the HTML into the normal editor, and saved it as a draft. And from there, compared that HTML with the HTML of an image in the new post editor. And well, there was a part of it missing. So I went, changed one line, and voila, the image is exactly where I want it. Yes, it takes a bit more time this way, but it's doable. Still, I hope that the old image positioning will be brought back and added to the new editor as well.

P.S. By the time this gets published, it will be somewhat redundant. I'm writing the P.S. on the 30th of June, 2020 and the feature is back, though slightly altered. You can't drag the picture, but you can click alignment under the picture after you click the picture. Just make sure you place the picture to the spot you want it. I'll have to experiment with this more, but it should make my life easier. At least, I hope it will. :D

Because I could

So, I did some tweaking of the design. Nothing drastic, just some cosmetic changes. I changed the width of the page and increased the width of the sidebar a little. I also changed the font size and some font colors. Mostly to make it a bit more contrasting. Also, the font size change was because I have a huge monitor and it has a huge resolution. I also have it quite a bit of a distance from myself and so I have a hard time reading small text without magnifying it a little so I increased the font size to an optimal size of 20px for the posts and similar size for everything else. 

Hope you don't mind this change as it is here to stay. At least for as long as I have this display.

P.S. I decided to no longer use only 3 tags per post. I'm now using as many as I want. So I might end up tweaking the way the tags show, but I'm not sure yet.

Meh...

Well, I've had it with the dark design. Normally, I wouldn't complain about it, but it was bugging me for a while now. I mean... I like dark colors and all, but in this case, it just wasn't working. I swill probably still have to fix the font size. Probably by a single pixel, but I think it will make all the difference. 

I also had to recreate the introduction page that is at the top of teh side bar. But hey, at least it is better than it was. Or... Now that I think aobut it, I'm not even sure there was an introduction page. Oh well, now ther is. Oh, and the header was a pain to create. Well, mostly. The text and the center and right side were a breeze, but the left side was just empty all the time. And apparently, you can't fill a mask with a pattern from a different picture. I mean, I probably could, but hey, it took a while to even remember I could add masks. I haven't done any graphix in a while. But it is possible to add pattern to a font, so I went and downloaded a bunch of dragon fotns and went through them all to figure out which dragon symbol would be best. I can't say I'm a hundred percent happy with this one either, but it was better than any of the others. The rest of them were too cartoony and childish. And I didn'T want that, but I wanted something that would fit in color vise. This one did. Mostly. I still had to play around with it a bit... 

You know what, I'm happy with it now. And I'm not gonna change it for a while now. And that's the good thing. Cause it was a pain in my ass.

Drafts or no drafts?

I've been wondering.

About what? The draft system that many blogging servers support. Basically, it means you write your post but save it as a draft and publish it later. Do you do this? Or do you publish everything immediatelly? 

Me, I've got four blogs. One is just for my stories and fanfics and as such, I post there only when I've got enough lenghth of a story.

But my other three blogs, I've got them sorted out in a way when I post a post on each every three days. I rotate them. Each day I work on different one. 

Blogging anyone?

I was about to write a post about all the blogs out there that have different tips for bloggers, but then I realized that it doesn't matter. In the end, it's not the tips from different sites but you and your ideas that make your blog. 

No amount of tips will help you to be the best. And while these tips can help you move forward a bit, they will not help you write the actuall posts. It's more like help with designs and setting things up and general to do and not to do.

So, what is really important when you're blogging is to have a layout that will be easy to read on and menu where your readers can easilly orient themselves. Too much things or too little things will probably make them leave.

Shortening

Just a quick note for you to understand that I decided to shorten all the posts and for you, in order to read the whole thing, you need to click the "read more" link. 

It's just that the posts are long and I don't want to have the front page too full.

Next time I write a post, I will first write it here and not on wordpress, because if I copy it from wordpress, it messes with my settings and I have to redo it in a very complicated way!

Pet

Hi,

I just wanted to say that I added something little to the sidebar. I stumbled upon this site, you can adopt "pets" there and some of them look really nice. I'll be looking into others too, but for now, there is this pet. If, when it grows up, it will look weird and ugly, I'll replace it with something else. But for now, this is the pet that you will be seing in the sidebar.

Follow-up on Google Chrome rant

So I've been using Torch the past few days and the only thing I found that doesn't work in Windows 8 mode is DivX web player. Which is something I can live without as I'm only using the desktop DivX player to watch downloaded movies. So, if there are any of you that are experiencing problems with windows 8's version of google chrome, try using Torch browser, which is essentially the same, only it can download torrents and has a few other nifty thingies. Thoough I'm not really using those. Only the torrent download, as that was the primary reason I even had Torch. 

 The only remaining question is: Should I uninstal Google Chrome completely or should I keep it as a back-up browser? I'm thinking of removing it completely as I don't really have a use for it anymore. But somehow, I don't wanna... So if any of you want to give your oppinion on this, it would be great. :)

I hate Google chrome (In windows 8 mode)

Again, reminder that this is a repost. :)

Starting today, Google chrome in windows 8 mode stopped cooperating with me. Yesterday, I was able to play games on Kongregate or watch videos on youtube. Today, it said that Adobe flash didn't work in windows 8 mode and that I would have to relaunch chrome on desktop. WTF?! Yesterday it worked just fine! So I decided to try restarting my computer. When that didn't solve the problem, I reinstalled chrome. No luck there either.

 So I was like "The fuck?! What the Hell is going on?!" And then I decided to take drastic messures. I have a browser similar to Chrome - it's called Torch. And it has a windows 8 mode too. So I switched the two browsers - google I have for desktop when there is something that only works on desktop and Torch is now my main browser. And voila! Everything works just fine! And therefore, I hate google chrome. I mean, torch is a fairly unknown browser, right? And if they could make everything work in windows 8 mode, why can't google?! So from now on, if I don't have to, I will not use Google Chrom!

What now?

It appears that the problem I had on wordpress, was quite simple. Just a link to anilinkz.com, which is not allowed. I wrote to them and they told me. So I removed it. Now, however, there is a bit of a problem. You may ask what that is, and it's very simple. Do I continue here, or there? Or on both paralel? I'm thinking of continuing on both in paralel. Just as a safety messure. What do you think?

Daily prompt explanation

Hey, 

I just wanted to explain the daily prompt thingy. It's from wordpress. The one good thing from there. Basically, they post a topic or something along those lines andy ou may write a post about it. I sometimes do. And since I'm no longer on wordpress, I'll be posting it here, cause I like the idea. 

Also, there are weekly writing challenges, or something, too. One day, I might actually write it. If I like the topic. Fo rnow, I'm sticking with the daily prompts.

Now on a more serious note

Hey, 

now, that I'm done with scheduling all the reposts, I want to write something else. Just so you know what's going on. First off, I did not repost all of the posts from my wordpress page. Most, yes, but not all. I skipped all youtube videos and some posts about my life. I believe I skipped some technical too. 

That's not important though. What is, is the fact, that you can expect a lot of pictures by me in the next month. Within those there will be some text posts too, but not much. And they will be mainly focused on anime and game reviews. The games, I have in mind are Legend of Grimrock, Oblivion, Rise of Mythos. As for anime, only one so far in the scheduled posts - Sword Art online. So, even though there will be a lot of pictures, I think you have at least something to look forward.

Hi, 

My name is AnnElfwind and I decided that this will be my english webpage. It used to be a base for my yaoi stories, but hey, I've got a page only for stories. So that's why I decided to camp here. And, to be honest, I've got another reason. That is, I had an english page on wordpress, however, for some reason, they suspended it. And I have no clue as to why. So I got angry, and here you have it. I'm here.

So I hope you will like this blog and as for what's gonna be here, it will mostly be text. I'm not sure what exactly, but hey, that's life. Right? I will just post anything that comes to my mind.
